SuperUte Champion Ryal Harris to Step Up to Super2 with Matt Stone Racing

Former Matt Stone Racing V8 Ute Champion Ryal Harris is set to return to the team to take part in the 2022 Super2 Season.

Following a successful season in the 2021 SuperUte Series which saw him take out the championship title, 36-year-old Harris is making the step up to Super2 for his first full season, having previously competed in the category on two, one off occasions in 2014 and 2016.

With the continued support of his naming rights partner EFS, a leader in Australian 4×4 suspension and accessories, and the experience that Ryal has as a driver, he is sure to impress.

When asked about reuniting with the team, Ryal said, I have a pretty good track record with Matt Stone Racing already, having won the 2015 V8 Ute Championship together,”

“I am happy to be involved with Matt and the whole organisation again; it all just makes sense as EFS and all my other personal sponsors are Southeast Queensland based,”

When looking at Ryal’s racing credentials, he is a 5-time V8 Ute and SuperUte Champion, including the 2021 title, and 3-time Touring Car Masters race winner. In addition to this, according to driverdb.com, Harris is in the top 20 most successful drivers in Australian history based on race wins, an extraordinary achievement when you consider the number of high profiled drivers alongside him.

“Obviously, we are not here to make up numbers, we will be going for race wins and a championship.” Ryal continued, “I know I have a big ask of me, as I’ve got limited experience in a Supercar, but I am pretty confident I’ll get up to speed pretty fast and we will have a good season.”

With the signing of Ryal, this completes Matt Stone Racing’s 2022 Super2 driver line up with Aaron Seton making a return for his second year with the team. MSR believe, as teammates, Aaron and Ryal will be a strong duo as they push each other to excel in the category.
