Percat second in Darwin qualifying

Nick Percat was second in qualifying for Bendix Racing on the opening day of the Darwin Triple Crown.

Percat earned himself a Top 10 Shootout berth for tomorrow with a stellar lap in Friday afternoon’s qualifying session to be second-fastest at the end of the day.

The Dabble Racing Chevrolet Camaro of Cameron Hill will start P19 in Saturday’s 48-lapper after a difficult qualifying.

Both cars will return to the track for Practice 2 in the morning, with Hill focussing on race pace as the Car #4 crew looks to charge up the order.

The Top 10 Shootout takes place at 11:35 ACST ahead of a 15:10 race start time.

Nick Percat – Driver of #10:

“It’s nice to reward the MSR crew with a good little result here on Friday. The car and the whole team’s been amazing all year. The spacer between the seat and the steering wheel has made a few mistakes, the last couple of rounds, so it probably hasn’t really shown the speed we’ve had. I came up here early, had a bit of a reset, and it’s nice to roll out the truck well. We had a good test day recently as well, so it was nice to kind of validate a few things with the way MSR go about it. I’m kind of kicking myself for the last couple rounds of how that went because I think we could be comfortably probably close to the top three in the championship.”

Cameron Hill – Driver of #4:

“I was pretty frustrated after qualifying, just didn’t put a full lap together. I think the car has the speed to be higher, but I will put my hand up for that one — just made a couple of mistakes and tried to hard to make up for it. The boys have done a great job and the car is good, we’ve just got our work cut out for us tomorrow.”
