“You could say I’ve been working for this a long time. Man, I just had a good feeling about today. I was so nervous before the race because I recognised the fact that if we could get off the line we could get the win today. Man, unbelievable. One-two for MSR! It’s so cool. Massive credit to them. They’ve put so much work in. They deserve this.

“It’s unreal. I was pretty nervous before that one because I recognised the opportunity we had and I just made it my focus to try to get to the first corner before Broc Feeney. Then I managed to help Nick get through as well and he helped me out from there, so we kind of did what they did to us yesterday very well, so thanks to Nick and thanks to the whole MSR team.

“We sort of discussed a lot of different hypothetical situations before the race, because obviously we were starting two and three. We probably spoke about more scenarios where we were the second and third car on the road, but we did briefly touch on what we would do if we were one and two, and it just went perfectly to plan.”

“It was always about maximum team points to get ourselves further up the pitlane ahead of New Zealand. So two more races to go to make sure we can be in a better spot in pitlane, but to get maximum points for the whole of MSR is amazing. For Matt, he has worked crazy hard over the years to get to a point with this team and I think Gen3 has been really good for him. Obviously it was a really hard slog when he first started the MSR thing and the equipment and all that but now he has got two really good cars, fast drivers, a great team – like they will do anything for us. It’s pretty cool to see how he goes about it and I know Jimmy will be at home and I’m sure he has got tears in his eyes with how proud he would be of Matt and the whole team. It’s amazing to be able to deliver a one-two and I know how special they are because I was able to get one with Chaz in Adelaide at the end of the Holden era. Then to do it around here in Melbourne with the fans, it’s very cool

“It’s been massive over the last 12 months. He’s matured a lot over time and understands the game a lot better now, which is really cool to see and to see the effort that’s going in. We both go about it very differently. Cam is very focused on making sure he’s across everything and he’s very data-driven and it’s very cool to see someone apply themselves that intently. Then there’s me on the other side who is pretty blasé and that’s the way I get the best out of myself. It’s good, he has figured out what makes him click and it’s amazing to see. It was always coming, the first podium and then the first win, so yeah, it is cool to see. Even for Matt and the team, they got him as a rookie and have helped him progress through and now Cam is repaying the favour.”
